Harbour events, and many festivals and community events, take place in Gimli Harbour each year. Annual festivals such as the Icelandic Festival, held on the August long weekend, and the Gimli Ice Festival held in March, host activities, competitions and places to gather and enjoy the scenery in the harbour area. International, national and regional sailing events, hosted by the Gimli Yacht Club, center around the harbour. The harbour is also the place to see Canada Day fireworks and participate in Nuit Blanche activities.
